Mindfulness is noticing and welcoming what is going on within you and around you, moment by moment.
Don’t worry, it is not about peacefulness and it is not about making your mind calm (which is basically impossible). Mindfulness is simply a great technique that has blended ancient eastern philosophy with western psychology to give us more resources to deal with modern life.
Becoming more mindful will build your resilience against stress, expand your perspective, improve your decision making and help combat the challenges of today’s busy, digitally loaded lifestyle. Becoming more mindful, while not solving all your problems, can help you be more at ease with your dis-ease… a dis-ease of non-acceptance that some people say is the root of all suffering.
For now though, I say “Let’s just start by being less mindless, shall we?”
